Crash claims life of Greenville man

An accident at the intersection of North Conecuh Street and Greenville Bypass claimed the life of a Greenville man Friday afternoon.

One vehicle attempted to pull onto the bypass from North Conecuh Street and was struck on the driver’s side by the other vehicle, which was traveling on Greenville Bypass toward Highway 10.

The driver and the vehicle’s only occupant, who pulled out from North Conecuh Street, was 63-year-old Artie Scarver. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased shortly after being transported to Stabler Hospital following the two-vehicle accident on Friday at 4 p.m.

The other vehicle, which was traveling on Greenville Bypass, had two occupants, who were both taken to Stabler Hospital and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Greenville Police Department is currently investigating the accident, and more details as to the cause of the collision will be released once the investigation is completed.
