Council approves appointments of board vacancies

Announcement of board appointments was part of the new business on the agenda at the latest meeting of the Greenville City Council.
Sam Roberts will fill the vacancy on the Airport Advisory Board previously held by the late Floyd McGowin, a longtime members and advocate of the city’s airport.
Supernumerary Board member David Scott will fill the slot vacated with the resignation of Ben Kilpatrick on the Board of Adjustment. Kilpatrick is leaving the position due to health reasons.
Scott’s promotion will leave a vacant supernumerary slot to be filled at a later date.
Sam Roberts of Corstone, Everett Snow, DMD and Jennifer Machen of Alabama Power were reappointed to the Industrial Development Board.
In other business, the council approved:
*Resolution 2011-21–condemnation and demolition of structures through CDBG No. LRA-CE-PF-07-049, Phase III.
*Resolution 2011-23-awarding of bid to Delta Civil Developers, Inc. for FAA AIP Project 3-01-0036-009-2011 for the parallel taxiway extension project at the Mac Crenshaw Memorial Airport.
*Resolution 2011-24-resolution adopting a “Citizen Participation Plan” establishing procedure to be followed in administration of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) by the city.
*Resolution 2011-25-resolution adopting “Grievance Procedure” establishing procedure to be followed in administration of CDBG in city.
*Resolution 2011-26-resolution adopting “Fair Housing Standards” as procedure to be followed in administration of CDBG by the city.
Resolution 2011-27-resolution adopting a “Procurement Policy” as procedure to be followed in administraion of CDBG by city.
Resolution 2011-28-resolution adopting a “Standards of Conduct” establishing procedure to be followed in administration of CDBG by the city.
The following expenditures were also approved:
*CWA Group Inc. – $2,985 –  semi-annual groundwater monitoring event and SSI Report
*Greenville Motor Co. – $1,576.50 – estimated cost for replacement of transmission for Police Car No. 90 less warranty allowance of $1,000
*Philen Construction, Inc. – $4,800 – to repair, revamp and re-roof lean-to at Animal Shelter
*Kelley’s Foods – $1,142.10-to stock beginning-of-season foods at all ballparks
Skipper Consulting, Inc. – $3,330 – Professional traffic engineering and planning services provided Feb. 19 to March 18 for the City of Greenville associated with traffic management plans for Fort Dale Road including actual drawings, consultations and meetings with ALDOT
The next meeting will be held May 9, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.
