With principal positions left vacant due to resignations and re-shuffling within the system, the citizens of Butler County are curious to know who will helm their schools in the coming year.

Dr. Charles Farmer is leaving Greenville High to helm a new school being built in Williamson County, Tenn., while Joseph Dean, former interim superintendent and principal of Georgiana High/Butler County Magnet School, has accepted the principal’s position at Escambia County High School. BCMS’s interim principal Jennifer Burt’s contract was not renewed.

Dr. Tera Simmons, principal at Greenville Elementary, is expected to move to the Central Office to become Special Education Services coordinator, with Jai Hill, principal of Greenville Middle School, moving to the principal’s position at GES.

According to Darren Douthitt, school superintendent, plans to fill these vacancies are underway.

“The public will be informed promptly when decisions are made about the vacancies that exist at Greenville High School, Georgiana School and Greenville Middle School,” Douthitt said.

“Anyone with questions about this issue can call me for further discussion.”

Catherine Sawicki is slated to remain as W.O. Parmer Elementary School’s principal, while Randy Williams will return to his long-time helm at McKenzie School.
