Parks and Recreation announces baseball and softball registration
Jerome Harris, director of Greenville Parks and Recreation has announced the dates his department will be accepting enrollment for youth baseball and softball programs.
"Starting on August 1 and lasting until August 15, we will take registration for youth softball and baseball programs during the hours of 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., at our Beeland Park Recreation office," Harris said on Friday. "Those parents interested in enrolling their child or children in the program should bring proof of the child's age with them, and also proof of health insurance."
Harris said although insurance coverage is required, those wishing to participate that do not have private insurance may purchase recreation insurance at the time of registration, for $7.50 per child.
"Registration fees are $20 for one child, $30 for two, or $40 per family (if three or more children)," Harris said. "Children must be members of the same household to qualify for family discounts."
Harris said there will also be a $10 late fee charged for enrollment after Aug. 15.
The league divisions and age groups for baseball are: Mites - 6-8 years; Junior - 9-12 years; Senior - 13-15 years and Major - 16-17 years of age.
