Trooper struck by vehicle

Update March 7, 9:15 a.m.: The Trooper struck by a vehicle north of Luverne Thursday evening was released from the hospital Friday morning.

“He is at home resting.” said Trooper Spokesperson Kevin Cook.

An Alabama State Trooper was struck by a vehicle north of Luverne Thursday evening.

According to Trooper Kevin Cook, public information officer, the Trooper, who has not been identified, was assisting a motorist on U.S. 29 two miles north of Luverne, when he was struck by the vehicle.

β€œThe trooper, who was wearing a reflective vest and had emergency lights activated, was directing traffic when he was struck,” Cook said.

He was transported to Crenshaw Community Hospital in Luverne for treatment of his injuries.

The extent of the injuries was not released.

Nothing further is being released at this time, as the incident is under investigation.
