Capt Pip’s food truck makes splash in Greenville

Matthew Pipkin and his wife Melissa, rolled out their Capt Pips food truck Dec. 5, and with a week’s worth of attention from the hungry locals, the food truck is a success.

“We have done amazing this week,” Melissa Pipkin said.

With a count of about 500 stomachs filled to the brim in the first week, it appears the duo, owners of Pip’s Surf and Turf, may have netted the perfect idea as a complement to their primary business.

Matthew said he has had this dream swimming around in his head for over a year now.

“I always wanted a restaurant, but with the pandemic, it’s been hard on the restaurant business,” Matthew said.

Their best-selling item by far is their chicken wings, which is their feature dish on the Wednesday menu.

“On Wednesday, we sold out twice. We went through 136 pounds of chicken wings,” Matthew said.

The Capt Pips food truck is easy to spot sitting in the parking lot across the street, but within walking distance of their store.

But this won’t always be the case.

“This week, we’ve been here in the parking lot; but, we do have some events coming up,” Melissa said.

They will move the truck to the events, and serve their customers on the spot.

Right now, the custom-built food truck is open Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

They offer a variety of seafood items, including shrimp and mahi mahi tacos, shrimp po’boys, jambalaya, fried catfish, and even alligator bites.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   There are over 17 different items on their menu.                                                                                                                                             Different days offer different meal specials.                                                                                                                                                      To place an order, call (334) 391-9030 or (334) 391-9031.
