Local churches set Ash Wednesday services
Ash Wednesday, a day of prayer and fasting for practicing Christians, will begin the Lenten season this year on Feb 17.
Despite the setbacks caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the following churches are still offering services to Greenville residents:
First United Methodist
First United Methodist Church will have two Ash Wednesday services. The first service is in the chapel from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for those who want to receive their ashes but do not wish to attend a full in person service. The second service is in the sanctuary at 6 p.m. This service will be both in person and virtual. Those interested in watching the service online can find the video on the United Methodist website and Facebook page.
St Thomas Episcopal Church
St Thomas Episcopal Church will have multiple Ash Wednesday services beginning at 7 a.m. Other services are at 10, 4:30, and 6. In person attendees will need to RSVP a spot in advance. An outside service at noon. Attendees to the outside service have the listen to the service through their vehicle on 88.5; the churches broadcast station. If you can’t attend an in-person service, the outdoor service and 6 p.m. service is being live streamed.
St Elizabeth Catholic Church
St Elizabeth Catholic Church will have an Ash Wednesday service at 5:30. This service will be in-person only.
