Frederick Garrett Thompson, a resident of Forest Home, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, at the age of 92.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, July 18, beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home. The family received friends for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of over 65 years, Mary Louise Davidson Thompson; parents, Leslie and Edith Thompson; brother Elmore Thompson; brother-in-law, Eugene Braden.
He is survived by his four children, Stephen (Renee) Thompson, Lenise (Mark) Crenshaw, Keith (Belinda) Thompson and Beth (James) Joseph; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Braden, nieces, Janet Croley and Sharon Bailey and other extended family and friends.
Fred graduated from Greenville High School, Auburn University and Air Force Flight Training (pilot). Retired as a professional engineer from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Fred was a Fellow and active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was an active member of Forest Home Baptist Church, where Jerry Wilkerson is pastor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, Disaster Relief, North Carolina.
