The Greenville Police Department’s Special Response Team is hosting a 5K Challenge and 1-mile Fun Run Saturday.

Along with the run, the SRT will also be on hand to provide information about the team and the equipment it uses.

“There will be members of the Police Department’s Special Response Team there to demonstrate the teams equipment and answer questions,” Greenville Police Department Lt. Justin Lovvorn said. “Kids are welcome to come and look in the different type vehicles used by the Special Response Team, including armored vehicles, high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles, specially-equipped deployment vehicles and the M939 five-ton 6×6 transport truck.”

The event will also include vendors beginning at 7 a.m. with the 5K slated for an 8 a.m. start.
