Butler County players named to ASWA All-State team

The Alabama Sports Writers Association has named football players to its All-State high school football team. Players were also selected for honorable mention and the association named one coach from each from the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class and the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) as Coach of the Year.

Among AISA student-athletes, Fort Dale senior Jon Nolan Lawrence achieved the All-State first-team offensive. Senior Ethan Alford made the defensive team.

Also representing Butler County for Class 1A on first team defense was Georgiana Panthers junior Fred Curry. Making the second team from Butler County were seniors Cam Miles on offense, Margues Payton as Athlete, Kaveon Miles as Honorable Mention DB and Jaquese Abner as Honorable Mention athlete.

Several Lowndes Academy football players made All-State teams. On first-team offense were seniors Pierson Hill and Ashton Yelder. Seniors Cooper Dansby and Scott Stinson made offense and Clayton Hussey was named Athlete. Senior Kasen Dismukes was named second-team Athlete. 

Earning Honorable Mention were juniors Reid Owen and Zack Azar along with senior Jase Howard.

Crenshaw County boasts student-athletes from Class 1A and Class 2A and from the AISA. Brantley junior Cooper Layton and senior Romeo Presseley were on offense for the Class 1A first team.

From Highland Home, senior Lane Duett made the Class 1A first-team offense. Juniors CJ May and JJ Faulk joined senior Brice McKenzie on first-team defense. On second-team offense was junior Tyler Chaney.

Senior Brayden Moore from Crenshaw Christian earned Athlete on the first-team. On the second-team, Cougars were named to defense – Junior Dalton Jordan and senior Drake Mills.
