The Greenville Tigers hosted the Wilcox Central Jaguars Friday night, and after a tough battle they suffered the agony of defeat with a final score of 66-50.

"This was the first of two grudge matches for us," said Coach Jai Hill. "Wilcox beat us during the Christmas tournament, when they had the home-court advantage-we were meant to show them what it was like on our turf-it just didn't work out that way."

In the first period, Greenville maintained a one-point lead, and after the horn sounded, the score was Tigers 12, Jaguars 11.

But when the halftime break arrived, it was Wilcox Central ahead by one, with a score of 28-27.

Greenville came back determined to rally but in the third period, they mad 17 points to Wilcox's 21, making the three-period score Jaguars 49, Tigers 44.

In the fourth period, try as they might, Greenville couldn't make up the deficit, and when the final horn blew to end the game, the Jaguars left the victors, with the ending score of 66-50.

Tyrone Davison topped on scoring for the Tigers, with 19 points, including five free throws. Next it was Chris Toles scoring 10 points, going two-for-three on free throws.

But it was sophomore Tres McMeans that earned the "aahs" of the crowd with his three-pointer.

For the Jaguars, DeWaren Benjamin led , tied with Michael Williams, the pair each scoring 21 points. Jason Richardson

scored 14 points.

The Tigers will go to Wetumpka on Tuesday night, and then it's off to Monroe County on Friday night.
