Coach Gary Wayne Bowen said he was extremely proud of the effort his squad gave Friday night as the Tornados turned up the heat in overtime to defeat Central, 50-41.

&uot;We had a bunch of guys step up tonight and score for us,&uot; he said. &uot;I'm just proud of the effort they gave tonight.&uot;

The win marks the Nados third in nine games. Bowen says there have been no serious run-aways.

&uot;We've had a lot of close games,&uot; he said. &uot;This is the second time we've been in overtime. But none of them have been real blow-outs.&uot;

The Nados took an early lead

with a 10-9 first quarter. Kyle Salter led the team with six and both Adam Moore and Michael Cauthen sunk one for two points.

In the second period, Central jump out to a little lead over the Nados, outscoring them 12-7. Cauthen sank one for three this time and Salter and Josh Burt each made one basket for two.

Central pulled away even more in the third quarter, outscoring the Nados 11-8. Salter put in four points this time, followed by Justin Murphy and Justin Beeson who each scored two.

The Nados rallied in the fourth however, coming back from a 32-25 deficit to tie the score at 38 at end of regulation. Adam Moore led the squad in the fourth with seven of the Nados 13. Josh Burt and Justin Murphy each sank one basket for two and Beeson and Salter each made one free throw.

The Nados blew out Central in overtime, however, outscoring them 12-3. Justin Beeson hit six points, followed by Moore, Murphy and Salter who each scored once for two.

&uot;I can't single anyone out,&uot; Bowen said. &uot;They played more as a team tonight.&uot;

Kyle Salter ended the night with 15, Adam Moore basketed 11 points and Justin Beeson scored nine. Justin Murphy followed with six. Michael Cauthen ended the night with five and Josh Burt made four points.

The GA girls also brought in a win against Central, defeating the Warriors 40-28.

&uot;We have a real young squad,&uot; Bowen said. &uot;Ashley Whittington is the only senior who sees a lot of play.&uot;

The lady Nados jumped out to an early lead with a 16-8 first quarter as Ginger May hit three baskets for six points. She was followed by Alicia Waller who had four points. Amy Winters, Ashley Whittington and Tabitha Gafford each sank one basket for two points.

The second half again ended up for the Nados as they outscored Central 6-4. Ginger May hit two free throws and Alicia Waller sank one basket to each bring in two points. Whittington and Gafford each sank one free throw.

The third period saw the Warriors try to regain some lost ground as they scored nine to GA's 6. Waller scored twice for the

Nados and Amy Winters sank one for two. The third ended with the Nados up 28-21.

The Nados didn't let up however ,and outscored the Warrios 12-7 in the fourth to secure the win. Waller hit three baskets for six and Farren Butts, Ginger May and Ashley Whittington each scored once for two.

Waller ended the night with 16 of the Nados' 40. May followed with 10 and Whittington had five. Winters basketed four points, Gafford had three points and Butts ended the night with two.
