Lady Eagles thump Lady Vols

Fort Dale Academy breezed to a 48-10 win against area-rival Monroe Academy Tuesday night in Monroeville.

The Lady Eagles (11-10, 6-1) forced 22 turnovers and held the Lady Vols to just 11.1 percent shooting from the field en route to the win.

Fort Dale held Monroe scoreless in the final eight minutes of play, and yielded just five points in the game’s opening half. Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles scored 17 points in the opening period and 19 points in the second period to take a commanding 36-5 halftime lead.

Mary Sanford Perdue led the Lady Eagles with 13 points.

Caroline Snellgrove scored nine points and Barrett Leverette added six points in the win. Fort Dale will be back in action Friday when it plays host to Hooper Academy. Junior varsity action is set for 4 p.m. with varsity action to follow.
