When a team plays a 10-game schedule, starting the season 0-4 is never good.

For Greenville High School, the never good start could get worse as they travel to Stanhope-Elmore on Friday and then to Carroll High next Friday.

Last weekend, the Tigers stepped out of region play in search of their first win. What they got was all they could handle from an equally hungry group of Jaguars.

The Wilcox Central Jags also entered Friday's competition with an 0-3 mark in a region that's equally as tough Greenville's Region 2.

The Jags pulled out the win 26-21.

Both teams will enter into Friday's match-up coming off losses.

While Greenville's loss was severe, 26-21 0-4 on the season, Stanhope-Elmore was shutout by Prattville 25-0.

Mustang coach Jeff Foshee gave this account of the game: "They whipped us. In ever facet of the game, they were just too good for us. They dominated us on both sides of the ball. There were somethings I thought we could do. But at the point of attack if you get whipped, you will not win."

"That's no slap in the face to Stanhope. Prattville is a good football team, Stanhope is a good football team and we have a good football team," said Alvin Briggs, coach of the Greenville Tigers. "We just got to cut out the mistakes. We are making so many mistakes and their mistakes we shouldn't make."

Friday night, Greenville faced Wilcox Central and controlled a majority of the game.

The Tigers carried a 21-20 lead into the fourth quarter. But, after a four-yard run into the end zone by the Jaguars, Greenville found themselves in familiar ground again.

"Friday night was a disappointment not only because we lost, but we played great for two quarters" Briggs said.
