GREENVILLE-Mr. Layfield was a former district governor of the Alabama District of Kiwanis International.

He was a also a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and went abroad often to do Mission work of SIFAT.

He was also a longtime employee of the Alabama Employment Service.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Christian Eckert and the Rev. Joe Lizenby officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to SIFAT International in Lineville, AL.

Funeral arrangements were by Fairhope Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Beth Layfield, of Greenville; his daughter, Marite' Layfield, of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Layfield, of Dadeville; two brothers, Kenneth Donald Layfield, Denmark, S.C. and Claude Blanchard Layfield of Dadeville; his niece, Claudia Ashleigh Layfield and one nephew, Logan Blanchard Layfield, both of Dadeville.
