On June 1, 2005, a local couple was treated to a sumptuous celebration for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Nancy and Elton Jones of Greenville were at home when their doorbell rang. A uniformed valet appeared at their door and escorted the couple to a white stretch limousine – complete with a red carpet. &uot; What a surprise – it was just great,&uot; Mrs. Jones said.

The couple was whisked away to their anniversary party at the Cambrian Ridge Golf Club. Daughter Luinda Kooker, and son David Jones and his wife, Pattie, planned the gala celebration.

A large number of relatives and friends from far and near, joined the happy couple in celebrating their special day.

The climax of the day’s festivities was a PowerPoint presentation created by Luinda and David, combining some of the most treasured moments of the couple’s life together.

&uot; They had found some old film of our wedding, with Elton and I coming out of the church, and film of the children when they were young…it was all very special.

When it was over, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house,&uot; Mrs. Jones said.

&uot;It was a great day, and anyone who missed it, missed a treat,&uot; the honoree added.
