Kudos to Tide on FSU deal

For once I'm going to have to give Alabama athletic director Mal Moore some huge kudos.

Unlike the team on the other side of the state, the Crimson Tide is trying to work out a game that is making me salivate just thinking off it for their 12th game in 2007.

How does Alabama vs. Florida State sound to you?

I know, I'm pumped just thinking about it.

The only problem now is that the television networks that hold the game rights to Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conference games are squabbling over who would get the TV rights to this great game.

As of now the game would be played on a neutral field at Jacksonville's Alltel Stadium, which was home to last season's Super Bowl. The hitch to this deal is that the game would be considered Florida State's home game, since the Seminoles only have five home dates scheduled so far.

Moore and the Crimson Tide don't seem to have a problem with it, but the TV boys are still thumb wrestling over the TV deal. This deal is so sweet that it's reported that each team could earn up to $2 million just in TV money alone. That's better than some of those also-ran bowl games we were subjected to in early December.

I just can't see this deal not being finalized and everyone across the nation circling the date. This is a game that Crimson Tide fans have had on their wish list for years. It's been right up there with moving the Penn State series up just to fill that 12th game.

Kudos indeed go to Moore and the Capstone. They are showing the grit to get a deal done where home dates didn't matter.

This is a lesson that the boys over on the Plains to stand to learn. Those dates with The Citadel, Western Kentucky and some directional school from Louisiana just doesn't cut the mustard anymore.

Tickets are just too high for the average fan to see the Tigers whip up on a junior varsity team.

Jay Jacobs and Tommy Tuberville, take note. If you are worried about the money, schedule a markee game like the Tide.

Alabama has had a tendency to roll snake eyes lately when it comes to football, but it just hit the jackpot with this upcoming game.
