Bulldogs face Ariton for area champs

After beating Montgomery Academy in a double-header Saturday, the Brantley Bulldogs are now ranked fourth in 1A. BHS head baseball coach Ashley Kilcrease is looking forward to his Bulldogs getting the chance at the area championship this Friday against Ariton.

“We are 13-7 so far this season, and we have a lot to be proud of,” Kilcrease said.

During Saturday’s double-header against MA, the Bulldogs came away with a 15-2 and a 10-5 win.

“Anthony Gulley led us at the plate with six hits, including three doubles,” Kilcrease said.

Also, Jared Hall had five hits, including a three-run homer, and Chase Hall and Stephen Walker both had four hits each; both Chase Hall and Walker also hit home runs for the Bulldogs.

Walker picked up the win on the mound in the first game, while Chase Hall picked up the win in the second game.

Brantley will now travel to Ariton (13-7) this Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m. The Ariton Purple Tigers will then travel to Brantley on Friday to play for the area championship at 4:30 p.m.

Presently, Ariton is ranked second in the area.
