April Langford promised the public the Harley’s Angel’s Relay For Life team would bring plenty of talent to town for the team’s very last Benefit Bash, set for  Saturday, March 18 at the Butler County Fairgrounds.

And it looks as if Langford and her fellow teammate Sherry Henson are keeping that promise.

“We have fabulous news! We are finally ready to show off all the great talent we have lined up for the event,” said Langford.

Headlining this American Cancer Society fundraiser will be Nashville recording artist and Alabama native Ashton Shepherd. Shepherd, a singer and songwriter hailing from Coffeeville, scored two Top 40 hits with her tunes “Takin’ Off This Pain” and “Sounds So Good,” and a Top 20 hit with “Look It Up.” Her latest album, “Out of My Pocket,” debuted in 2016 on her own independent label, Pickin’ Shed records.

Also slated to perform at the Benefit Bash are Matt Holmes, Bama Breeze Band, James Darden Band, Joe Wright and Brandon Self and local favorites like KAOSS and Renny McNaughton. It’s a lineup promising a mix of traditional country with rock and roll and rhythm and blues classics.

“With so much great talent on tap, we will be opening the gates at 10 a.m. Saturday morning,” said Langford. “You can bring your lawn chairs and plan to make a day and night of it with us.”

There’s much more than just musical jammin’ to enjoy at the Benefit Bash, she says.

This year’s event will also include a variety of vendors offering hand-crafted items and special products, a wood-carving demonstration, numerous raffles, a silent auction—and the return of the highly competitive King of the Grill Contest, with chicken, ribs, brisket and wild game on the menu and a “People’s Choice” Award for pulled Boston Butts. Entry fee is $25 per team of up to four members.

“If you know your way around a grill and want to join us, we are still taking applications. And we still have space for vendors, too, so if you make jewelry or candles or create art or have something to sell, contact us,” said Langford.

Admission to the Benefit Bash is $15 and everyone is encouraged to bring their wallets and purses so they can browse among the vendors and bid on items in the silent auction.

“We want this to be the biggest and best bash of them all since it is our last one for the Harley’s Angels,” Langford said. “Just remember, all the proceeds are going to a great cause—the fight against cancer.”
