Officers responded to a one vehicle accident on I-65 northbound after 10 a.m. Sunday morning, just south of the 128 exit.

The pickup truck involved in the accident blocked the northbound lane of the interstate. Northbound traffic was diverted onto Hwy. 31 in Georgiana for a period of time.

There were two people occupying the vehicle at the time of the accident, with the passenger becoming a fatality and the driver being transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both occupants were from Haleyville, Ala.

The Greenville Police Department is conducting the accident investigation and will have more information on the cause of the accident once it is completed.
