Although the Dixie Angels All-Stars didn’t bring home a first-place trophy from the weekend’s tournament, they still brought home some hardware.

The Angels placed third in the tournament and were given the Sportsmanship Award Trophy.

In the first game, Greenville faced off against Covington County and lost 17-1.

The Angels’ only hit in that game came from Taylor Waller.

However, Greenville came back on Saturday with an 18-0 smacking of Brantley.

Alex Merry had a home run and three RBIs, Waller had a double and two RBIs, and Hannah Schofield came through with a triple and five RBIs.

“She had a great night for us,” said head coach Chris Moore.

Taylor King also pitched a one-hitter in that game.

The win set up a rematch with Covington County on Monday night, and Greenville lost 15-0.

“Our team did a great job, but we were just outmatched by Covington County,” Moore said. “We had a good time, and Elba did a good job of hosting the tournament. Our girls really enjoyed it.”

Moore’s assistant coaches were Frank King and Teddy Mauch.
