A fundraiser was held on Saturday, August 22, at The Shoppes of Miz Fancy for the family of the late Sissy Smyth.

The fundraiser was coordinated by Henry Edwards, Lomax Tomlin, Dr. Danny Mount and Randy Smyth. The fundraiser actually began during the latter part of June. Tickets were sold for a chance to win a 14K white gold, 2CT diamond cluster ring, with a retail value of $5,000. The ring was donated by Janie Ward, owner of The Shoppes of Miz Fancy.

Henry Edwards welcomed the crowd and spoke of how precious a person Sissy Smyth was to each one there. He then turned the event over to Pastor William Leverette who also spoke briefly to the family and friends gathered. Pastor Leverette then led the family members and friends in prayer.

Mark Smyth told those gathered how appreciative the family was for all the efforts put forth to make this fundraiser a huge success.

All money raised went to the family. There was no deduction made for anything from the proceeds.

The crowd gathered around for the winning ticket to be drawn, and the winner was Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Smyth, Jr.

The total amount of money raised for the Mark Smyth Family was $10,240.
