Ulysis Black, age 84, of Georgiana passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 3 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7 beginning at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Brother Mike Philips officiating.

The family will begin receiving friends for visitation one hour prior to service time. Graveside services will immediately follow at Providence Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Ulysis was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Adell Black. 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Shelba Black; children Donna (Alan) Lowery, Jimmy Craig (Sanda) Black, Stacey (Dixie) Black, Kimberly (Randal) Sims; grandchildren Sara (Justin) Gorman, Justin (Nina Marie) Lowery, Christopher (Rebecca) Black, Katelyn (Kyle) Switzer, Chase Black, Timber Anne Black, Winston Sims, Whitman Sims; great-grandchildren Ivy Rae Lowery, Casey Black, Ellie Black, Jackson Sims and brother Gerald Wayne (Maxine) Black.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at Southern Care Hospice for all their help and support as well as all of their friends and loved ones for their support during such a difficult time.
