Pimienta hails from Tampa, Florida and graduated from Leto High School in 2012. He went on to play linebacker at Huntington College in Montgomery, graduating in 2017.

Pimienta stayed on at Huntington after graduating as a student coach, under the leadership of Head coach Mike Turk, to gain much needed experience. The coach returned to Huntington College, coaching running backs for a short time. He has also served as the co-offensive coordinator, and strength and conditioning coach for Pike Road High School. Under his leadership, the team topped off their 2021 season as state champs, with a 36-2 record.

Pimienta said the athletic program at GHS is improving and adding players.

“GHS is making great strides.” His focus is Consistency. Pimienta said that the number of players on the roster is much higher than last year.

With positive leadership, growth and talent from players such as, BJ Dickerson, Willie Taylor, Landon McClain, and BJ Bedgood, Pimienta said the potential is limitless.

Pimienta added that the players are working hard in the weight room this summer. The team will attend camps at the University of South Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The first game of the season is Saturday September 2 at Park Crossing High School in Montgomery.

Coach Garrick Pimienta is married to his wonderful wife Rasheeda, and they have one daughter (Paxton) age 3.
