Dr. Bryan Holman, owner of the River Region Vision Source, has settled into downtown Greenville like the area was made for him.

Holman, a 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, holds a doctor’s degree in Optometry and has offered comprehensive family and pediatric vision exams as well as quality lenses and frames since 2021.

His first job after graduation was at the vision center inside of Walmart in Greenville.

After working there, and being missed while out on leave  because of COVID, Holman had an opportunity to come back to Greenville, and acquire the current building and the practice from longtime optometrist, Dr. Harriett Foshee in late 2020.

Renovations combined what was once two buildings into one.

From October 2020 to March 2021, office walls were torn down and new entrances between the two buildings were created.

“It’s really cool that the building I’m in is so old,” Holman said. “We renovated it; so it’s an old building but like new.”

The space got new paint inside and outside and once the new furniture arrived, River Region Vision Source opened its doors for business.

Many of Holman’s former patients from Walmart agree they are glad he is back in town.

Holman retained his patient records from that job and said several of his patients have sought him out since his return.

“I’ve been very welcomed here in Greenville,” Holman said. “A lot of people were very excited to have me back.”

Although Holman lives in Pike Road he is still active in this community and was awarded the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce New Business of the year award at the group’s annual membership banquet in April 2022.

Tracy Salter, Executive Director of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce said, “Since opening its doors in the Camellia City in 2021, River Region Vision Source has actively supported the Butler County Achiever Awards Scholarship, Children’s Advocacy Center, Lions Club, downtown Trick or Treat, the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, and various other organizations and community projects.”

“It was an honor to get that award,” said Holman. “The award honors a Chamber member business that demonstrates steady growth, solid leadership and is actively involved in the betterment of the community.”

Besides being an active chamber member, Holman is involved in the local Lions Club.

He helps with exams and eyeglasses, both of which is a celebrated endeavor of the Lions organization.

Since being recognized by the Chamber in 2022, the business has grown. Holman said his staff and his patient base have definitely expanded.

“We are most definitely seeing new patients,” Holman said.

Foshee remained on site working with River Region before officially retiring from the practice in March 2021. Holman and his  associate, Dr. Sarah Vrotsos, have continued to grow the flourishing business in historic downtown Greenville.
