Fort Dale beats Sparta Academy

The Fort Dale Academy varsity basketball team beat Sparta Academy during the second day of the FDA Christmas Tournament, held on December 18, with a final score of  53-40.

Fort Dale took a short 13-7 lead following the first quarter, which they managed to hold on to until the final buzzer.

Clay Benson had a double-double and led the team with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Sawyer Fossett scored 14 points with six rebounds and one assist.

Ethan Alford scored nine points for Fort Dale with four rebounds and six assists.

Brody Stringer and Jackson Scott each scored six points with two assists. Stringer had four rebounds, and Scott had two.

Jon Nolan Lawrence scored two points with one assist and four rebounds.

During the first day of the tournament, Fort Dale fell to Chambers Academy 40-33.

Fossett led the team with 12 points, three assists, and two rebounds during that game.

Benson scored eight points and had one assist and two rebounds.

Lawrence scored four points with four rebounds, while Alford scored three with three assists and 11 rebounds.

Joseph Ealum, Stringer, and Scott scored two points each. Ealum and Stringer had five rebounds, with Scott having three.

Following the tournament, Fort Dale sits with a 4-4 record for the season.

They will go on the road to face Sparta Academy for the first game of the new year on Monday, January 3.
