Guthrie was a civil engineer with the Alabama Department of Transportation for 43 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville for over 56 years where he was a Deacon and faithfully served in numerous church leadership positions.

He so often referred to himself “an old country boy”. He brought so much joy and love to those who knew him. He loved to make people smile. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the bounty, his coffee club, watching Alabama football, hunting, fishing, and after retirement he even took up playing golf. But his greatest joy was his family. He often told his family that the greatest gift was to be able to spend time together.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at 1:15 p.m. from the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home with a celebration of Guthrie’s life beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Tim Patton officiating. Graveside services will follow at Sunrise Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted, and contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 212 Fort Dale Road, Greenville, AL 36037. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Kim Owens, Guthrie and Carol’s caregiver and friend.
