You couldn’t have asked for a much better game from Crenshaw Christian Academy in their blowout win against Pickens Academy.

The Cougars dominated in their 64-14 win, controlling the ball on offense and suffocating the Pirates with great defense.

The Cougars are on fire currently, winning six out of their last seven games by an average margin of 30.5 points.

Jack Dillon Hewitt made his presence felt in the first quarter as he caught a 65-yard bomb from Quarterback Demetric Toney. He also caught an 18-yard touchdown pass later in the half.

Hewitt would finish the game with two receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

However, it was Toney who stole the show.

The Cougars quarterback would finish the game with a pair of 57-yard touchdown runs, tallying 215 yards on the ground on 16 carries. He was 5 of 8 passing for 132 yards and even had a fumble recovery on defense.

“Demetric was great for us all night,” Cougars head coach Wayne Grant said after the game. “He’s such a dynamic player that can do just about anything that you ask him to.”

Defensively, Drake Mills led the way for the Cougars with 7 tackles and a touchdown on a 68-yard punt return. Reid Compton would also finish with 7 tackles, including one for a safety.

Now, the difficulty will ramp up for CCA (7-3) as they take on Sparta Academy (6-3) in the second round of the AISA Class A playoffs. Sparta Academy dismantled Lowndes Academy 41-2 this past weekend.

The winner will advance to the AISA championship.
