It’s been an up and down season so far for Crenshaw Christian Academy. However, one of their best performances of the season was on full display this past Friday as the cougars took down lakeside by a score of 50-6.

Things didn’t start so well for CCA in the first quarter after a snap flew over the head of Quarterback Demetric Toney. The cougars would find themselves in a 4th in long on their own 15-yard line.

It only got worse.  CCA would shank of punt, and Lakeside would start their first drive on the cougar’s 13-yard line. Lakeside would quickly score a 6-yard TD run to put themselves up 6-0 after a failed two-point conversion.

It was at this point that CCA decided that they weren’t going to lose this game – especially since it was homecoming.

On their next drive, Toney would complete a 66-yard touchdown pass to Austin Archie. The game was tied 6-6 after a blocked extra point.

CCA would stifle Lakeside on their next drive, and would ultimately get the ball back on the chiefs 39 yard-line.

CCA capitalized on the great field position with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Gage Messick. The cougars would be successful on their two-point conversion, extending their lead to 14-6.

Lakeside was stopped yet again on their next drive, as the cougars forced the chiefs to a three and out.

CCA took over on their own 35 with less than a minute in the half, and the cougars caught Lakeside napping. Demetric Toney completed a beautiful 63-yard pass to Gage Messick, putting CCA up 20-6 after a blocked extra point.

This touchdown transitioned us to halftime, where Reagan Lawrence was named the 2020 Homecoming Queen. Lawrence was crowned by the 2019 queen, Savannah Jones.

The second half of the game was all cougars, as CCA would score 22 points in the 3rd and 8 points in the 4th – leading to a 50-6 defeat of the chiefs.

CCA (3-2) now looks ahead to Lowndes Academy this Friday, while Lakeside (3-2) tries to get back in the win column against Edgewood Academy.
