Three people were killed Monday in a crash in Covington County eight miles south of McKenzie.
According to Sgt. Drew Brooks of the Alabama State Troopers Troy Post, the two-vehicle crash occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on Alabama Hwy. 55. Killed in the crash were an 8-year-old boy from Dallas, Ga., whom troopers did not identify; 18-year-old Joseph Cameron Worley of Red Level and Landie Romulus, 35, also of Dallas, Ga.
Worley was driving a Chevrolet Camaro when he entered the opposing southbound lane and collided with a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Edwin Cornell Graham, 44, of Dallas, Ga. Both Worley and the 8-year-old died at the scene. Romulus and a 3-year-old child were flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Graham and an 11-year-old were transported to a local hospital and then flown later to Sacred Heart Hospital as well.
According to State Troopers, the crash occurred at the 40-mile marker, which is eight miles south of the Butler County line.
Troopers say speed is a factor in the crash.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue their investigation.
