Panthers pound Bulldogs in first region contest

The Georgiana Panthers (12-2) have had a strong showing this season, but the Panthers’ first game of 2017 also marked the team’s first region contest.

The hosting Brantley Bulldogs succumbed to the Panthers’ relentless assault as Georgiana claimed its first region win 65-39.

It was a productive night on the offensive side of things, as Georgiana spread the ball around enough to get three Panthers into double digits.  Ja’Michael Stallworth led the Panthers with 16 points, with DeAarion Squiare not far behind with 15 points.

Torrey Rudolph recorded a double-double performance with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Brantley girls prevail in nailbiter

The Georgiana Lady Panthers (7-5) were less fortunate Tuesday on the road in Brantley, however, as the team fell in a nailbiter to the Lady Bulldogs by a narrow margin of 36-35.

Miya Riley and Tah-Ja Herbert both led the Lady Panthers with 10 points apiece.
