“We’re not going to take anything away from Pleasant Home, they’re a very good team,” said HHS girls coach Melinda Avant.

Sophomores Terrion Nichols and Donaven Roberson led the team in points.

After a neck and neck game against the Zion Chapel Lady Rebels on Monday, the Lady Squadron fell short, 41-36.

“We never lose; we learn,” senior starter Tanner Harris said.

“Even though we lost, we’re going to continue to work hard every day. The girls’ attitudes are still relatively upbeat,” Avant said.

“We’re getting ready to see Zion Chapel again this weekend in their tournament. We will be improved by then.”

June had a total of 17 points Monday night; trailing behind was Merriweather with 11 points.

The Lady Squadron played hard throughout the game and it was a fighting battle during the whole game.

The Highland Home Flying Squadron had a victory over Zion Chapel Monday night, winning 67-49.

“They’re buying into the ‘we’ instead of the ‘me’. They’re playing hard. We took the lead early in the game and never looked back,” said HHS varsity boys’ coach Shawn Sellers.

Highland Home was the first to score and stayed up all night long. At half time they were up by 10 and the Rebels couldn’t find their way back to the top.

“Starting off Monday night, everyone came out and played the hardest. We left it all on the floor. We controlled the game the whole time,” said senior Roddrick Bell.

The Squadron will play in a tournament this weekend in Zion Chapel. The Lady Squadron will start off the tournament Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. against the Lady Rebels.
