SPECIAL TO THE JOURNAL:
Wayne Carter is pleased to announce his candidacy for the upcoming election of the Mayor of Luverne. Carter stated that many in the town may already know him, but for those who don’t he offers some background.
Carter has practiced law in Luverne since 1999. Prior to that, he worked as a social worker with the Department of Human Resources (DHR).
“I am not going to make a lot of promises of what I am going to do, but if elected Mayor of Luverne I can promise you that I will be experienced, honest, respectful, hardworking and available to all the citizens,” Carter said.
Carter stated that he has had the privilege to serve as the elected councilperson for District Two in Luverne from 1992 to 2003 when he was appointed the City Prosecutor, a position for which he is still serving.
Carter has also served as the chairman of the Luverne Airport Authority since 1995.
“At each of these positions, I strive to serve the city to the best of my ability,” Carter said.
“I feel that my past experience in these positions has given me insight into the duties of Mayor.”
Carter asks the community not to be alarmed or forget that he is a participant in this race because of his lack of political signs. Carter has chosen not to advertise his candidacy in this manner.
“I hope to see each of you in the upcoming weeks. If for some reason I should miss any of you, I respectfully solicit your vote and support to elect me as Mayor of Luverne,” he said.
“I would like to ask each and every person to vote for me, and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 335-4668.”
