Georgiana man busted with 4.5 pounds of spice

A Georgiana man’s failure to obey a stop sign earned him a stop in the Covington County jail.

Lajon Pier Pate ran a stop sign in River Falls at the intersection of Hwy. 55 and Hwy. 84.

“The vehicle failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit was initiated,” River Falls Police Chief Greg Jackson said. “After a lengthy chase, officers took Lajon Pier Pate of Georgiana into custody.”

After authorities made the traffic stop, they allegedly found Pate to be in possession 4.5 pounds of synthetic marijuana and currency.

Pate was charged with drug trafficking. His bond was set at $750,000.

“Thanks to Andalusia Police, Gantt Police, Covington County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Task Force and the Covington County E-911 operators for assisting,” Jackson said.
