Fort Dale Academy staked claim to a two touchdown lead Friday night, only to see Autauga Academy storm back to claim a 29-14 win in Prattville.
The Eagles (1-1) got on the scoreboard first when sophomore quarterback Luke Taylor connected with senior wide receiver Stephen Hartley for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead with 1:39 to play in the opening stanza.
After junior linebacker Andrew Salter intercepted an Autauga pass, senior running back Maurlan Dickerson gave the Eagles a two-score lead with 10:10 to play in the second quarter.
It would be the last time the Eagles found the end zone.
The Generals (2-0) scored 29 unanswered points, largely on the strength of a rushing attack that rolled up 202 yards, to notch the come-from-behind win.
Taylor finished the game 7-for-14 for 111 yards and a touchdown. The FDA signal caller also ran 10 times for 54 yards.
Hartley had three catches for 57 yards, and Dickerson carried the ball 12 times for 55 yards.
The Eagles finished with 154 yards rushing and 111 yards passing.
Junior Clay Mansmann led the Eagles’ defense with 11 tackles. Senior Cody Parker finished with 10 stops.
Fort Dale will play its first home game of the season next Friday night against Escambia Academy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
