Brantley edges Georgiana

Three seconds can seem like an eternity on the basketball court, but it wasn’t quite enough for Georgiana School as Brantley High School held on to a narrow 48-46 win over the Panthers Friday night thanks to a last-second bucket.

Kenyatta Teague’s decisive layup with three seconds remaining on the game clock was enough to give Brantley the edge in what had largely been an evenly matched contest.

Teague finished the night with 10 points and 10 rebounds, but he had a tremendous amount of help from Wesley Person Jr., who added 27 points to Brantley’s total and led all scorers.

Jacquez Payton delivered another impressive performance as he led the Panthers with 22 points on the night.

The loss drops the Panthers to 13-7 on the season and 1-2 in region play.

Georgiana will meet J.F. Shields for the second time in as many weeks for a rematch at home Friday after suffering a loss on the road earlier this year.
