Rebels charge back, down Fort Dale

Fort Dale Academy led by Lowndes Academy by 20 points on Tuesday night.
But the Eagles were unable to hold off a late charge by the Rebels, who escaped with a 47-46 win.
The loss was the third in a row for the Eagles who opened the season with three consecutive wins.
Fort Dale led 11-6 at the close of the first period, and used a 17-6 advantage in the second period to carry a 28-12 lead into the break.
It looked as though the Eagles were on their way to an easy win. But the Rebels had other thoughts.
Lowndes erupted for 19 points in the third period, while holding the Eagles to just six points to slice Fort Dale’s lead to 36-31 heading into the final period of play.
The Rebels outpaced the Eagles 16-10 in the final eight minutes of play to seal the win.
Chip Taylor led Fort Dale’s attack with 19 points. Taylor, who was 7-for-16 from the field, also had a team-high eight rebounds to go along with three assists and eight steals.
Ryan Burkett scored 10 points on the strength of a 5-for-10 shooting performance. He also had three assists and six steals.
Late rally sinks Lady Eagles
A 28-point fourth period power Lowndes Academy to a 60-44 win over Fort Dale Academy Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles (4-2) battled back from a 20-19 halftime deficit to carry a 34-32 lead into the final period, but the Lady Eagles managed just 10 points in the final eight minutes of play.
The loss is the second in the last three games for the Lady Eagles.
Fort Dale was led by Mary Sanford Perdue’s 12 points. She also had six rebounds and three assists.
AnJoy Castleberry scored 10 points on the strength of a 4-for-9 performance from the field.
Nedra Toulmin Crosby scored seven points and was 3-for-6 from the field. Crosby also pulled down six rebounds.
Samathan Smith also scored seven points, while Ashton Scott scored six points in the loss.
