Perdue powers Lady Eagles past Lowndes

Mary Sanford Perdue scored 17 points to help lead Fort Dale Academy to a 49-27 win over Lowndes Academy Monday night.

Perdue connected on 5-of-12 attempts, including a 3-for-5 effort from beyond the arc. She was also 4-for-5 from the free-throw line and tallied six rebounds and four steals.

Hannah Johnson nearly reached double figures for the Lady Eagles.

She scored nine points on a 4-for-10 effort from the field.

AnJoy Castleberry chipped in seven points and six steals in the victory, while Nedra Toulmin Crosby added six points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Fort Dale (1-0) took control of the game early and never trailed. The Lady Eagles staked claim to a 10-2 lead by the end of the first period and outpaced the Lady Rebels 14-11 in the second period to take a 24-13 lead into the intermission.

A 16-7 advantage in the third period and a 9-7 advantage in the fourth period sealed the win for Fort Dale, which led by as many as 24 points at one point.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Monday when they travel to Cecil to take on Macon-East Montgomery Academy. The game is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
