Geneva County too much for Georgiana

No. 6 Geneva County High School topped Georgiana School 53-28 Friday night at Dixie Howell Stadium in Hartford.

The Bulldogs’ 53 points in the most the Georgiana defense has allowed this season.

Entering Friday’s contest, the Panthers (1-2) had not allowed more than 29 points in a single contest  — a vast improvement over 2012 when the Panthers surrendered on average 52 points through their first three games of the season, including 62 points to Geneva County.

The loss drops the Panthers to 0-2 in Class 1A, Region 2 play after a 26-20 loss to in-county rival McKenzie last week.

Georgiana will be back in action Friday night when they play host to defending state champion Brantley High School.

Brantley defeated the Panthers 60-0 last season,

The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
