Fort Dale Academy held onto its No. 6 ranking in the latest Alabama Sportswriters Association football poll.

The Eagles, who opened the season with a 32-26 victory over Escambia Academy, are ranked behind Edgewood Academy, Clarke Prep, Tuscaloosa Academy, Restoration Academy and Pickens Academy.

Crenshaw Christian Academy, Macon-East Academy, Monroe Academy and Bessemer Academy round out the top 10.

In AHSAA Class 1A, Georgiana School received one vote.

The Panthers (1-0) defeated Ariton High School 38-29 to win their season opener. The win marks the first time since 2009 that the Panthers have started the season 1-0.
