Moorhead, McKenzie best rival Panthers

A three-run first inning sparked McKenzie School to a 6-3 win over in-county rival Georgiana School Tuesday in Georgiana.

Roscoe Moorhead earned the win for the Tigers on the mound. The McKenzie hurler allowed just two hits and an unearned run in six innings of work. He also fanned 11 Georgiana batters.

Condie Pugh led the Tigers offensive attack. He was 2-for-2 at the plate.

Matt Sheffield suffered the loss on the mound for the Panthers.

He tossed all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on nine hits and seven walks. He struck out eight batters.

Mike Dunn, Tarien Crittenden, Jackson Vickery and Sheffield each had a hit for the Panthers.

McKenzie and Georgiana will face off again today at 3 p.m. in McKenize.
