Fort Dale Academy landed two players on the Alabama Sportswriter’s Association all-state basketball team.

Fort Dale Academy junior Jack Bates was named to the Alabama Independent School Association second team.

Bates, a 6-foot-8 forward helped lead the Eagles to a 17-8 mark, an area championship, and an Elite Eight finish.

Anne Matthews, a senior guard, received honorable mention honors.

Matthews helped the Lady Eagles to an area championship, a 15-10 record and an Elite Eight finish.

Bates and Matthews were the only players from Butler County to be recognized by the ASWA.
