Georgiana School had hoped the third time would be the charm.
It was not.
Brantley High School defeated the Panthers for the third time since Jan. 11 on Friday. The latest loss, a 52-23 decision, came in the Class 1A, Area 3 tournament in Beatrice.
“We played really poorly,” Georgiana head coach Kirk Norris said.
The loss was the most lopsided of the series this season.
Georgiana dropped a 67-42 decision to the Bulldogs on Jan. 11 and a 60-55 decision on Jan. 25.
Jacquez Payton and Richard Boggan each scored 11 points to pace the Panthers.
McKenzie School also saw its season end in Beatrice. Red Level High School defeated the Tigers 65-28.
The Lady Tigers advanced to the sub-region tournament by defeating J.F. Shields 55-51 before being defeated 59-23 in the championship game of the tournament.
Brittany Gard scored 30 points to lead McKenzie, who will now play Geneva County Thursday at 7 p.m.
