Greenville High School assistant coach Richard Kelly could not be more proud of his team after a 35-6 win over Citronelle High School Friday. However, it wasn’t just the region win that brought a smile to Kelly’s face. After receiving the news that head coach Earnest Hill would be forced to sit out the game, Kelly said the players were able to overcome adversity.
“We talked all week about doing our job and getting through adversity and adverse situations,” Kelly said. “We were faced with adversity tonight and we stepped up, and we grew as a family.”
Greenville built a 23-6 lead by the intermission and added two more touchdowns in the second half to seal the win.
Greenville (2-2, 2-1 Class 5A, Region 3) will travel to Charles Henderson on Friday.
