It’s April, and that can mean only one thing — spring football.
The start of the 2012 season is still three months away, but area teams are already busy preparing for the upcoming season.
Fort Dale Academy held its first spring practice on Monday, a week after Greenville High School kicked off its spring practice schedule.
The Tigers, who finished their 2011 campaign with an 11-1 mark under first-year head coach Earnest Hill, spent last week in shorts. The team started working in full pads on Tuesday.
According to head coach Earnest Hill, the Tigers will work in full pads Wednesday and Thursday before taking the weekend off. They will return to full-pad workouts May 1-3 and May 8-10.
The Eagles, who posted a 4-7 mark in 2011, will spend their first week of spring practice in shorts before beginning workouts in full pads on Monday, according to head coach James “Speed” Sampley.
Georgiana School and McKenzie School will begin their spring practice schedules on April 30.
