Georgiana School defeated in-county rival McKenzie School 9-5 on Friday.

“We played pretty well. We walked five and made three or four errors. I would really like to see us clean that stuff up. Bottom line is that we won a game against our biggest rival and we battled to do it so I am very pleased with guys,” Georgiana head coach David Watts said.

Matt Sheffield led the Panthers at the plate with a 4-for-4 effort that included 5 RBIs. He also earned the win on the mound.

“Matt Sheffield has had a huge year for us,” Watts said. “He really works hard to be good. It is great to see people that put in the effort get the results. He is a very deserving kid.”
