McKenzie School’s Dazia Womack recorded a double-double to help power the Lady Tigers to a 44-34 win against in-county rival Georgiana School Tuesday night.

The McKenzie sophomore scored 23 points and yanked down 21 rebounds in the win, while blocking six shots.

“This isn’t really out of the ordinary for her,” McKenzie head coach Ezell Powell said. “She’s got a lot of talent, and she’s trying to come into her own. I think she might be starting to realize how talented she is and that she’s capable of putting up these types of numbers consistently. She’s a rare talent.”

For the Lady Tigers (2-2) Tuesday’s win was extra special given that it came against the Lady Panthers.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve beaten Georgiana,” Powell said. “Everyone was excited. It wasn’t just a big win for us, it was a big win for the community as a whole. Anytime you play your  archrival you want to win. You’d love to win all the rest of the games, but that’s one you want to get for sure.”

Brittany Gard scored six points, pulled down seven rounds and recorded four steals for McKenzie.

Tyanna Perkins scored 12 points to lead Georgiana.
