Charles Henderson High School edged Greenville High School 42-34 Tuesday night in Troy.
The Lady Trojans played stifling defense in the game’s opening period, limiting the Lady Tigers to 11 points, seven of which came from the free-throw line.
The Lady Trojans on the other hand went on the attack early, taking an early 9-point advantage.
Greenville fought back however, bringing the score to within one point by end the first period, and taking their first lead of the night in the opening seconds of the second period.
From there, the two teams traded shots as well as the lead, which changed hands three more times throughout the second period before the Lady Trojans gained control for good.
Late in the opening half, Charles Henderson was clinging to a 1-point lead when back-to-back shots from Maya Monriston helped the Lady Trojans carry a 5-point lead into the intermission.
From that point on, the Lady Tigers never got closer than three points, as Charles Henderson held on for the win.
Camille Morton led the Charles Henderson attack with 13 points.
Greenville will be back in action Thursday when it travels to Montgomery for a showdown with Sidney Lanier High School. The game is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
