Greenville Middle School closed out its 2011 campaign Tuesday night with a 24-0 loss to Millbrook.

The Tigers finished the season with a 4-3 mark.

“That’s not the way I wanted to end our season but I am still very proud of this team,” Greenville head coach Daniel Ingram said. “We overcame some injuries this year and had some guys step up and become good players. Seeing players develop throughout the season is part of the satisfaction you get as a coach. I am confident that we are sending a hard working group of eighth graders to GHS next year.”

Turnovers played a big part in the Tigers’ loss.

“We were able to really move the ball early on but had some mistakes that really cost us, and we also turned it over a couple of times that not only cost us points but gave them points,” Ingram said.

Tuesday night’s contest marked the first time this season that Greenville failed to score.

“Getting shutout was disappointing because I really think we did a decent job on offense,” Ingram said. “We just could not get it in the end zone.”
