TROY – Charles Henderson Middle School scored a 20-14, come-from-behind win against Greenville Middle School Thursday night in Troy.

It was the first loss of the season for the Tigers.

Greenville (2-1) jumped out to an early lead when quarterback Barrett Bush found Jaquan Smith for a touchdown.

Dequarius Peterson converted the two-point try to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead.

The Trojans responded with a sustained drive that led to a score. A failed two-point conversion helped the Tigers hold onto the lead.

Greenville managed to find the endzone once more before the half when Bush connected with Timmy McCall for his second touchdown pass of the contest. The Tigers were unable to connect on the two-point conversion attempt and entered the break leading 14-6.

McCall’s touchdown marked the final score of the game for the Tigers, while Charles Henderson found the endzone twice in the second half to capture the lead.

“They really dominated the second half,” Greenville head coach Daniel Ingram said. “They scored two more times and chewed up a ton of clock. We did have a late opportunity to take the lead after they tied it up but could not get anything going. We had another when they were up six, but had the same result.”

The Tigers will host Luverne on Tuesday night. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
